From Booklist The eBay phenomenon may be the greatest opportunity for home-based entrepreneurs ever. With close to zero start-up costs and a worldwide customer base of 150 million people, the little guy can now compete on a level playing field with huge corporations. Although TV infomercials and eBay itself are teeming with hucksters trying to sell advice, wholesale lists, and auction software to help you jump on the eBay bandwagon, 99 percent of it is junk and unnecessary. In October 2001 Ginsberg had a modest business selling high-end pool tables and tried selling one on eBay on a dare. For him, the rest is history. He now runs a million-dollar eBay business and ships pool tables all over the country. This quick read is a pretty straightforward primer on the do's and don'ts of starting your own (serious) eBay business. Since Ginsberg seems to hold back somewhat on the finer points of advanced online business management and product sourcing, you will have to do some of your own homework, but there is plenty here to get you started. Readable, Good Information, But a Serious Omission (Rating :2.00) This book has good information for the learner eBay-er. But it has a serious shortcoming. It has no index! Much of the book seems to be written down as narrated by the author. This means it is very readable, but the information on each topic is scattered in several sections throughout the book. Finding a topic for the first time (or trying to recall where it was) is frustrating and time-cosuming. There are other eBay books (such as various "Dummies Guides" that I would recommend as better than this book. Additionally the production (paper, printing) is surprisingly mediocre. |
Adam Ginsberg is an eBayer's Best Friend (Rating :5.00) Adam Ginsberg has hit the nail on the head with this book. A previous reviewer said that you can get all this information right on eBay itself, and that's true, BUT Ginsberg adds so much extra information and tips that you will find that this book is a great investment. His anecdotes about his own experiences with becoming an eBay seller are humorous and very useful. We learn from his mistakes. This book is valuable both to the eBay seller-hobbyist as well as the Power Seller. |
How to Profit From Adam Ginsberg's book (Rating :5.00) Adam Ginsberg has already put an extra $7499 in my pocket in only two weeks since I read his book "How to Buy, Sell, & Profit on eBay." He gives so many great and highly usable tips I haven't gotten to most of them. I believe just one tip from this book about how to set yourself apart from everyone else using a special photo technique has already been so powerful.
How do you profit from Adam's book -- Buy it!
I'm a believer!
